Hello everyone. This is a very important post so please pay attention.

About a week ago my mother informed me that my favorite little ninja of 10yrs old was diagnosed with leukemia.   In response to this I went into action.  I started setting up facebook groups and sending emails for hlping to raise money for the hospital bills and for gas money for his guardians as the hospital is an hour and half away from where they live.  This family has been going through so much already even before Justin's diagnosis so I ask that we all help them out and donate.   I have set them up a paypal account specifically for this purpose.  If you just send the donation through paypal to;

starlight.twinkle@gmail.com

That would be much obliged and appreciated. You may also send Justin a cheer card through this website:

http://www.thechildrenshospital.org/visit/gifts/CheerCards.aspx

Just send the card to Justin Campbell and it will be delivered directly to his room at no cost.

To hear updates and information about Justin's progress you can join the facebook group: Help Save A Ninja Foundation. It's open to anyone and we appreciate receiving the well wishes for Justin's recovery. Thank you all so much for your care.

Also if you happen to live in Colorado, and have or know someone with O negative blood, please think of donating the blood to Justin as that is the type he needs.

Again thank you all so much!

So they're dangerous. I never thought an inanimate object could be so dangerous. So every hour on the hour we did the maypole dance for the Pagan Alliance Mayday thing and we were in the process of unweaving it in order to do the dance again. However...during this unweaving process I decided to be a gigantic klutz and trip on the crack on the sidewalk and sprain my ankle. Not only did this slightly hurt (it actually doesn't hurt all that bad) but somehow from hurting my ankle my ears decided to stop working, i got dizzy and felt like I was going to vomit. Then I turned into a newt.

I got better.

Just an FYI on this one ladies and gents, dorks, geeks, and nerds alike.

Maypoles are dangerous.

Things are not going at all well for Japan Night. First we get denied the samurai armor for the show, then we're not selling many tickets, now Aikido is not even going to show up for their performance. WTF?!?!?! They made a flippin' commitment to this and now they're not going to show. Easter isn't until Sunday, go home then! I'm so pissed off right now with everything and I feel like I'm the only one doing anything. No one gives a crap about this except for me. I know that sounds selfish, but I see no one around me doing anything to improve the situation.

But to anyone who live in Minnesota, feel free to come to Japan Night, you can win a gold fish and free gift certificates to restaurants. Sorry you won't get to see Aikido as promised but there is other stuff that should be equally entertaining if people suck a little less.

Tickets are $3.50 with an SCSU ID and $5 without. it's at 6pm in the Atwood Ballroom this Saturday. Please come.

Well, another year has gone by and my appendix has been out of me for six years now! Six years ago today at very early in the morning my appendix tried to kill me by bursting inside of me. Now, many people know of appendicitis but I have to tell you I did not have that. Appendicitis is just when the appendix is infected, that I had a week before it burst, after it burst it is not longer appendicitis but is referred to as "HOLY DOIFJORUFNSDOIDJKFSDOILKJMS MY APPENDIX BURST AND IS GOING TO KILL ME IF I DON'T GET TO THE HOSPITAL SOON!!

This is true. In fact, because my awesome mother who actually believed my pain unlike my father who thought I just wanted to get out of math, if I had arrived two minutes later at the hospital I would have died the doctors told me. Wonderful. I'll just add another check mark on the list of ways I can get myself killed.

In my family, I am known to get injuries and sicknesses, but lately that has been dying out of me and is being taken over by my elder sister, M. But I have a feeling I'll be taking back that title any time now. I'm due for a kidney stone or something.

Anyways, in celebration of Happy Appendix Day I would like each and everyone on of you who reads this to go out, have a little fun, eat some French Silk Pie (as I shall be doing) and just have a great holiday.

WARNING: Those of you who still have appendixes may still be subject to bursting and near death experiences, if you have felt strange cramps on your right side lately when it's not that time of the month, go see your doctor to make sure you don't have appendicitis.

Happy Appendix Day everyone!

I'm currently putting up my mass of pictures in the time slot between classes and I have found a small dilemma. One of the pictures I have has on one side, Nino and his guitar, on the other side is Sho looking fantastic with these large headphones around his neck.

I do not know which side to display. If I could hang it from my ceiling and have it rotating, that would be awesome but unfortunately impossible in this room.

So I need your help to decide. Nino and Sho both rotate frequently on my number 1 spot of a favorite Arashi member. I have an equal amount of pictures of both of them on the walls currently. One reason why I might put Nino is because in the slot where the picture was to go, there is another Sho picture only a foot away and a fan of Sho on the other side. So it would just be this line of Sho...which may not be a bad thing.

I await responses.

Ok. So I'm getting kind of annoyed with youtube. I knew this stuff would happen when I created my accounts but I feel the need to speak about this because today for some reason it got under my skin. Normally the comments about my size don't usually get to me because I'm fine with who I am and how large I am, I admit I'd like to lose weight but I don't have the willpower to keep it going for long periods of time. If i ever was going to lose weight, I suspect I would need a buddy to do it with me just so they could keep me in check.

Anyways this guy goes to about six of my videos and comments about how I am such a fat a** and many variances of the words. Reason, those videos were about fast food in Japan. Now here's what I don't get. If a skinny girl posts a video about food they do not get any bad comments on their size. However, when a larger person posts about food the fat comments start rolling in. What the hell, people? I understand that these people who do this stuff have no lives and probably are just as large as I am and just want to boost their own self-esteem. However, do they realize that this kind of torment to people who do not have as strong of mindset tend to go out on a killing spree? I would really like the bullies of the world to know that out of many cases of school shootings or random killings, the reasons are because that person was bullied. Now I'm not saying that is a good solution, those people who do that were weak and didn't know how to let the comments go, but they need to know that there are such people who can't handle these kinds of attacks. It's also one of the many reason people kill themselves. So I hope the bullies finally grow up and stop the stupid comments and think about the effects it will have on people.

Sorry for the rant but I didn't like starting my day with these messages in my inbox.

Otherwise I'm fine and dandy, passed pretty nicely on one of my finals today and rewrote some of an old story.
So I have to write this essay about how I felt about my experience in Japan for my scholarship and I thought I would share it with all of you. I have to write it in Japanese but this is the English version of my sappy thoughts on being here. This is probably the most emotional and sappy thing I have ever written for myself so take a look if you'd like. It's a bit long but I think the people who read it here might be a little moved by it...because that's the kind of people they are. After this I don't have any more essays to write!!!!! WOOHOO! Then it's just two more finals and I am done with my another year of school! YES!!!

Anyways, here's the essay.

“Tsuki ni kawatte oshiokiyo!” That was the first phrase I ever heard in Japanese in 1999 when I was in sixth grade. The popular anime Sailor Moon was being broadcast on American television and I was enthralled by the show and its characters. Since watching this show I have always wanted to go to Japan. I had studied about the culture and watched many different anime and Japanese dramas to prepare myself because I believed that one day I would be going to Japan.

I arrived in Japan on <st1:date year="2007" day="2" month="10">October 2, 2007</st1:date>. Before I came to Japan I was very excited and nervous about the journey I would soon embark on. I came here having only studied one year of Japanese and my knowledge of its culture from watching Japanese dramas and anime. When I stepped off the plane at Narita Airport I was stricken with fear. I did not know what to do but somehow I made it to Akita. I was thrown into a world that I had never experienced before and I must say that I am glad that I chose to do this on my own.

In my family I am the youngest of three girls and I always lived in the shadow of my spectacularly talented sisters. Nothing I had ever done before was truly amazing to my parents and friends because my sisters had done it first. The only thing prior to coming to Japan that I had done that my sisters hadn’t done…was almost die from my appendix bursting. That is not something I want to make me distinguished from my sisters. However, I had the idea to come to Japan on my own. When I had called my mother that day telling her I want to go to Japan, she laughed at me. My family is poor and the amount of money it would cost to go to Japan was unthinkable to my parents. However, I tried my hardest and applied for the scholarship which I later received and the journey began. I am very proud of myself for doing everything on my own and I feel that the experience has made me become more mature and independent.

One of my hobbies is making videos. For my 20th birthday my mother bought me a video camera and since I received it I have been making all sorts of videos. I thought to myself that since I have this camera I should document the time spent in Japan. I even created a youtube channel to help educate others who would like to know about Japan and Akita University since there is not much information about Akita University available in the US. Since my arrival I have created over 400 videos. I myself and surprised at the number when I counted them. I had to watch many of the videos again so I could remember all of the things that I have done and seen since coming to Japan.

The first thing that is obvious in the videos is that I have met a large amount of people. I have probably met over 200 people easily and I feel a little bad for not being able to remember all of their names. But out of these people I have made some very close friends who I will be sad to part with. I have met people of all different types. I have met people who play taiko, university students, karaoke singers, older people learning English, young children learning English, teachers, businessmen, other international students, NHK employees, government officials, high school students, entrepreneurs, and otaku. Out of these people I have even created my own Japanese family with a mother, grandfather, and little brother included. It has been a wide variety of people that I’ve known and it has been an honor getting to know them. From these people I have learned something very important about Japan. Many times people will say “That is very Japanese” or “Japanese people always do…” However, I do not believe that the Japanese people can be grouped like this any more than American people can be grouped as the same. Japanese people may be of the same race, but each individual is different in their own way.

Another thing that is noticeable in these videos are the various places I have gone and not just cities and prefectures. The adventures I took on such as finding small back routes to the supermarket or pathways to the shrine, these were adventures that weren’t large but none the less held great effect on my character. As for the cities and prefectures I have traveled throughout Akita, Hachirogata, Tokyo, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Toyama, Kanazawa, Shimohama, Yokote, Ooga, and Niigata. I still have many places to go such as Kyoto and Osaka but they will come later. From these places I have seen a great many things and the true beauty of Japan has been revealed to me. Each place I went to had it’s own significance and impact on me. Going to Tokyo, Niigata Harajuku, an Shinjuku I saw the sights of true commercialization and the busy and cramped life of Japan. In Kanazawa and Toyama I was able to see Japan’s true natural beauty for it’s greenery and mountains. In Yokote and Ooga I experienced Japan’s winter and my favorite part of Japanese culture: Namahage and Kamakura. Finally in Shimohama, my eyes were able to have their first real look at the Japan Sea. I had never seen a sea or an ocean before in my life and I will hold those memories forever.

One thing that is also very obvious from the videos is you can see what kind of person I am and the things I like. If I were to say the word in Japanese I would probably say that I am an otaku. I enjoy collecting figurines from TV shows and I have at least 90 pictures from magazines and other merchandise of my favorites Japanese actors and singers hanging on my walls in my room. I have probably spent more money in the time I have been in Japan on this merchandise than I would have in 20 years at home in America. Some people may see this as a bad thing, but I consider it a great accomplishment because these items make me very happy and allow me to be me.

Even though those items cost a lot of money, I had prepared for being able to buy them and have worked at many different jobs in Japan. Most of which were teaching English to people of all ages from kindergarten classes to privately tutoring an 85 year old man. These jobs I thoroughly enjoyed because it gave me the experience I want for when I want to return to live in Japan. Finally, for my work I was able to execute my talents of singing. I had never dreamed in a million years that I would hold a concert in Japan, let alone two concerts. I am eternally grateful to the people who came to watch me sing and for supporting me to continue singing. Before coming to Japan I had given up the dream of ever becoming a professional singer, I didn’t have the self-confidence to do it. But now, there are all of these people around Japan who know me for my singing, like to hear me singing, and even have asked for my autograph in the supermarket. Those were moments that I will treasure for the rest of my life.

From being here in Japan I have learned many things. Of course my Japanese has improved and I know more of the culture but I have learned smaller things that may not seem important to others but they are to me. For example, I have learned how to play taiko drumming, how to change the rice paper on the doors of a shrine, how to make curry, how to play the card game trump, how to clean rice, what to do during an earthquake, and how to order a pizza in Japanese. There are many other things I have learned but the list would go on for eternity. I am truly thankful that I have been able to learn these tings and I will never forget them.

As I write this now I do not have many days left in Japan. I still have many more souvenirs to buy for friends and family back home. However, deep inside me I do not want to return home. Back home in America I have always been out of place because of how much my actions and manners are stereotypically Japanese. This is the first time in my life that I have felt at home…and yet I was so far away from it. Surely, I will remember the time spent here, the people I have met, the places I have gone to, and the things I have bought. I will not say goodbye to Japan, I will only say “ittekimasu” because I will definitely be coming back.

So Japan got hit again. Well we always get hit with earthquakes, we're known for it. Apparently on average we get about 10 little ones a day. However, for the past four days or so I have been feeling those little ones, my windchime and hanging closet also agree as I check them to make sure it's not my imagination. I had been telling that to my mum the other day and she thought that the earth was just settling from the last one but I said that I thought it was building up...I was right.

It wasn't as big as the last one, the last one was a 7.2, this one was a 6.8 in the Aomori are I think, Sendai got it and Morioka did as well and when it got to Akita it was about a 4 on the Japanese scale. So it was roughly the same feel as the last one and I even filmed, the video will be up later this week. It did last pretty long though and the boys next door were more frightened than I was. I think I've gotten used to the earthquakes now.

Yeah so that was fun. Why do they always hit when I'm trying to sleep? I had just gotten to sleep when it it and the last time was when I wanted to sleep in. The earth does not want me to sleep.

But yeah...earthquakes...FUN.

    <lj:music>All For the Best - Godspell</lj:music>

Ok...so I had my concert, but I don't really feel like writing about that. I will only say a couple things about it and that is, my voice really hurt while doing it, the cd wouldn't play "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" but otherwise it went very well and pictures can be seen her: http://www.rnac.ne.jp/~kodama54/today_new.htm

A brief video of it all will be up soon when I get the motivation.

But in other news I was very productive today without being productive.

Meaning I did not do any school work but I completely finished translating my project for D-Royal fansubs (I just need to type it up and send it) and I finished making my first ever AMV. The AMV is set to Ouran High School Host Club and to the song "All For The Best" from Godspell. Because I am a nerd. I'm really proud of it and it took a lot of time to do, it's not perfect, but it's good enough for me. Enjoy!

<lj-embed id="1" />

In other news, I should probably do some homework or something but maybe I'll just go to bed as the people are coming to get rid of the last of my mold on my ceiling tomorrow morning and are kicking me out of my room during that time. So yeah. I think I'll go to bed.

So I'm at work right now and I was doing some Super Sentai research for my project and I stumbled across a PGSM page because PGSM was considered Super Sentai when it aired. However, I looked at the cast names and looked at Naru-chan (Usagi's best friend) and her real name is Chieko Kawabe. Why did this sound so familiar to me? If you haven't guessed it's because she sings Sakura Kiss, the theme song to Ouran High School Host Club. ... quoi?
